"'Seekers' Are Poor Judges of Their Needs"

"'Seekers' Are Poor Judges of Their Needs" is posted at Old Truth.com. Read this post and ponder how the church goes about the task of evangelism. I have long had my doubts about the notion of giving the unconverted what they want in order to get them to church. Ichabod Spencer (1798-1854), a pastor who labored in Massachusetts and New York, wrote about this issue. The quote from Spencer's A Pastor's Sketches (1850) is a strong rebuke to the notion of "seeker-sensitive" evangelism.
